Erucamide 112-84-5

Product Description of Erucamide 112-84-5

Erucamide 112-84-5 is a higher fatty acid amide and one of the important derivatives of erucic acid, produced through the refining of plant oils.

It is a waxy, odorless solid that is insoluble in water but has some solubility in organic solvents such as ketones, esters, alcohols, ethers, and benzene compounds. Due to the presence of a relatively long unsaturated C22 chain and polar amine groups in its molecular structure, it exhibits excellent surface polarity, a high melting point, and good thermal stability, making it a suitable replacement for other similar additives in industries such as plastics, rubber, printing, and machinery.

As a processing aid for plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene, it not only prevents adhesion of the finished products, enhances lubricity, but also improves the thermoplasticity and heat resistance of plastics. Additionally, the product is non-toxic, and its use in food packaging materials is already permitted in foreign countries.

When incorporated into rubber, erucic acid amide improves the gloss, tensile strength, and elongation of rubber products, enhances vulcanization promotion and abrasion resistance, and particularly prevents sun-induced cracking.

When added to ink, it improves the adhesion, scratch resistance, offset resistance, and dye solubility of printing ink. Additionally, erucic acid amide can be used as a surface finish agent for wax paper, a protective coating for metals, and a foam stabilizer for detergents.

Application of Erucamide 112-84-5

Used as an opening agent for various polyethylene and polypropylene film packaging bags in food, clothing, and other industries, as well as a lubricant, release agent, and stabilizer for PP production in various plastic products.

Used in the synthesis of photosensitive materials as an acid-sensitive arm introduced into poly(oxyethylene), and widely applied as a new carrier in solid-phase peptide synthesis.

Primarily used as an excellent lubricant for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene (PE), and polypropylene (PP) extruded films. Adding approximately 0.1% erucic acid amide to the resin accelerates the extrusion process, resulting in smooth finished products that effectively prevent adhesion between films, facilitating handling. It also imparts anti-static properties to the plastic.

This product is also used as a dispersant for metal protective films, pigments, and dyes; an additive for printing inks; a fiber oil agent; a release agent; and a rubber compounding agent. Due to its non-toxic nature, it is permitted for use in food packaging materials. Erucic acid amide is a low-color (90 Pt-Co) and low-moisture content (100 mg/kg) amide derived from plant oils.

Erucic acid amide exhibits excellent slip properties and good anti-adhesion performance. When added and thoroughly pre-mixed, erucic acid amide effectively reduces friction and adhesion between polymers and equipment, as well as between polymers themselves, significantly improving processing speed and product quality.

Since erucic acid amide continues to migrate after product formation, it forms a thin film on the product surface, imparting excellent slip properties and anti-adhesion characteristics. The mechanical properties and visual appearance of the final product remain largely unchanged. Erucic acid amide has lower volatility and better high-temperature thermal stability compared to oleic acid amide. Its high-temperature resistance makes it highly suitable for applicati
